Extruder Filament Sensor
This sensor is used in the extruder to detect both the presence of the filament and the filament cutter lever.
Applicable Printer Models
P2S
When to Use This Guide
- The cable is damaged
- There are false reports of unloading failure
- There are false reports of the cutter being stuck
Required Tools and Materials
- A new extruder filament sensor assembly
- H1.5 hex key
- Flat tweezers
Safety Warning
It's crucial to power off the printer before conducting any maintenance work, including work on the printer's electronics and tool head wires. Performing tasks with the printer on can result in a short circuit, leading to electronic damage and safety hazards.
During maintenance or troubleshooting, you may need to disassemble parts, including the hotend. This exposes wires and electrical components that could short circuit if they contact each other, other metal, or electronic components while the printer is still on. This can result in damage to the printer's electronics and additional issues.
Therefore, it's crucial to turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source before conducting any maintenance. This prevents short circuits or damage to the printer's electronics, ensuring safe and effective maintenance. По любым вопросам или сомнениям, связанным с этим руководством,
Removing the Old Extruder Filament Sensor
1. Remove the Toolhead Housing
Refer to the Toolhead Housing Replacement Guide for the P2S, and remove the housing of the toolhead.
2. Remove the PTFE tube
Press the tube bracket to disconnect the PTFE tube by using the flat-tipped tweezers.
3. Remove the Filament Sensor Assembly
Step 1: Using tweezers, gently pry open the front cover of the filament sensor board connector and remove the cable.
Note: Some machines have black glue applied to the connector. Use tweezers to remove it and then open the connector. No additional glue is required when reconnecting.

Step 2: Use an H1.5 hex wrench to loosen the two screws on the filament sensor board assembly.
Step 3: Gently wiggle the filament sensor assembly and lift it upward to remove.
Installing the New Extruder Filament Sensor
1. Install the filament sensor assembly
Step 1. Place the filament sensor assembly back and reinstall the two screws using an H1.5 hex wrench.
Installation Notes:
The screws used for the Hall sensor (Screws 5 and 6 in the image below) are the black BT2-5 screws.
Please check during assembly, as excessively long screws may damage the components and cause detection abnormalities.

Step 2. Reconnect the filament sensor board cable as shown below and snap the connector cover back in place.
2. Install the Toolhead Middle Frame and Toolhead Rear Cover
Refer to the Toolhead Housing Replacement Guide for the P2S, and remove the middle frame and rear cover of the toolhead (parts 2 and 3 in the figure below).
3. Install the PTFE tube
4. Install the Toolhead Front Cover
Reinstall the toolhead front cover cable, then attach the toolhead front cover.
When installing the cable, make sure the connector latch is facing upward.
Verifying Functionality
Turn on the printer, manually load filament (or load filament via the AMS), and then perform unloading. If the process is completed without issues, the replacement is successful. If not, double-check the connections and retry. If errors persist, вы можете обратиться в техническую команду для получения дальнейшей помощи.
